The G20 trade ministers, chaired by Saudi Arabia at the current session, confirmed that they are working to ensure a continuous flow of supplies, biomedical equipment, agricultural products and other basic materials.

The group’s trade ministers said in a statement on Monday, reported by Reuters news agency that emergency measures should not create unnecessary barriers or disrupt global supply chains.

They stated that the emergency measures must be consistent with the rules of the World Trade Organization, and that they should be defined, proportionate, transparent and temporary.

They considered that “the time has come for the international community to intensify cooperation and coordination in tackling the Coronavirus.”
