Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced on Monday the suspension of the Football League in his country, among a series of other measures in an attempt to combat the spread of the Corona virus, which is spreading rapidly in the country.

Conte said at a press conference: There are no reasons for the continuation of matches and sports events and I mean the Football League. I’m sorry but all fans of the game have to take note of this.

Conte did not mention the fate of the matches that the Italian clubs will play in the European Champions League and European League in the coming weeks.
