An official source at the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced that based on what has been received from the competent authorities regarding developments in the face of the emerging Corona virus (Covid 19), and in response to the aspiration of many Muslims at home and abroad to perform Umrah and visit rituals, the kind approval was issued to allow the performance of Umrah and the visit gradually, with Take the necessary health precautions, according to the following arrangements and stages:

1- Re-permission to perform Umrah, enter the Grand Mosque and visit the honorable kindergarten in the Prophet’s Mosque gradually according to the following stages:

* The first stage: allowing citizens and residents to perform Umrah from inside the Kingdom, starting from Sunday 17 Safar 1442 AH corresponding to October 4, 2020 AD, at a rate of 30% (6 thousand pilgrims / day) of the capacity that takes into account the health precautionary measures of the Grand Mosque.

* The second stage: allowing the performance of Umrah, visiting and prayers for citizens and residents from inside the Kingdom, starting on Sunday 1 Rabi` Al-Awwal 1442 AH corresponding to October 18, 2020 AD, at a rate of 75% (15 thousand pilgrims / day, 40 thousand worshipers / day) of the capacity that takes into account Health precautionary measures for the Grand Mosque, with 75% of the absorptive capacity that takes into account the health precautionary measures for the honorable kindergarten in the Prophet’s Mosque.

* The third phase: Allowing the performance of Umrah, visiting and prayers for citizens and residents from inside and outside the Kingdom, starting from Sunday 15 Rabi Al-Awal 1442 AH corresponding to November 1, 2020 AD, until the official announcement of the end of the Corona pandemic or the disappearance of the danger, and that is 100% (20 thousand pilgrims / Day, 60 thousand worshipers / day) of the absorptive capacity that takes into account the health precautionary measures of the Grand Mosque, and 100% of the absorptive capacity that takes into account the health precautionary measures of the Prophet’s Mosque, and the arrival of pilgrims and visitors from outside the Kingdom gradually, and from countries that decide the Ministry Health The absence of health risks related to the Corona pandemic.

Preventive measures

* The fourth stage: allowing the performance of Umrah, visiting and prayers for citizens and residents from inside and outside the Kingdom, at 100% of the natural capacity of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, when the competent authority decides that the risks of the pandemic will be removed.

2- The entry of pilgrims, worshipers and visitors is regulated through the application (Umrahna), which will be launched by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, with the aim of enforcing the health standards and controls approved by the Ministry of Health and the competent authorities.

The ministry added that the application will be available for use on smart devices on Safar 10, 1442 AH, corresponding to September 27, 2020 AD – seven days before the start of the first phase – for users of iOS and Android operating systems.

Timing options

The Ministry indicated that the registration of the data entered by the pilgrims of the Two Holy Mosques will be directly related to the application of our trust, and this step will include a number of procedures, including providing a guarantee that the pilgrim or visitor is free from the COVID-19 virus, and that the application includes allowing the selection of the appropriate time for the guest of Rahman.
