Abu Dhabi Airports announced the use of robots from the UAE company, “Marakeb Technologies” to undertake sterilization and anti-virus operations in its various facilities, as the use of modern technologies increased in many tasks within the developed world in conjunction with the precautionary measures taken to combat the emerging corona virus.

For its part, the UAE surprised the world by adopting many advanced technologies in this field, and implementing several innovations in record time. The Emirates News Agency “WAM” said that the move is being made in cooperation with Tawazun Fund for the development of strategic sectors, and by using a robot that operates on a system of self-driving CoDi model BOT UGV.

She explained that the robot was designed and manufactured by the company “Marakeb Technologies” affiliated to the Fund for the Balance of Development of Strategic Sectors which is based in the UAE, where the launch of the robot, which will be launched this month, comes within the framework of the measures adopted by Abu Dhabi airports to provide the latest technologies and smart systems in its operations.

This cooperation between the two sides falls within the framework of Abu Dhabi Airports ’approach to enhance the use of the most advanced technologies, and its integration with its operations in order to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and provide the best services to its travelers.

The new CoDi BOT UGV robot works in various facilities of Abu Dhabi International Airport, including employee designated areas, freight facilities, as well as passenger aircraft sterilization operations.

The design and functionality of the robot includes technical features that enable it to work in aircraft cabins to maintain its cleanliness and sterilization, which is one of the qualitative advantages provided by the device to ensure the safety of its operators through the ability to control it remotely using video technology that is transmitted directly over the high-speed fourth-generation communication network .

The self-driving device will support the operational operations team to carry out its tasks safely while sterilizing the aircraft while they are on the ground of Abu Dhabi International Airport, with the aim of eliminating the risks of infection and pollution that employees may be exposed to.

The robot has a high flexibility in sterilizing the various areas inside the airport buildings, which enhances efforts in maintaining safety and public health to reduce the spread of the Corona virus, or the possibility of its spread in the future.

The UGV / UGV robots will be operated in conjunction with a wide range of precautions in place at Abu Dhabi International Airport, in response to efforts to reduce the Corona virus.

These procedures include thermal examination, nasal swab and PCR reaction test, in compliance with the recommendations of the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection.

The robot provides three basic functions: targeting viruses on surfaces by spraying pesticides with a UV control system, as well as individual thermal inspection tasks using infrared, as well as sterilizing facilities using special sterilization fluids.

“The provision of Abu Dhabi Airports reflects this,” said Sharif Hashem Al Hashemi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports robot New within its facilities at Abu Dhabi International Airport, our commitment to adopt innovative technology. “

He added: “The spread of this epidemic contributed to raising the levels of public awareness towards sterilization procedures and as a vital part of the infrastructure, we have a great responsibility to ensure that our facilities are free of the virus, which is achieved through the adoption of technologies Artificial intelligence“.
